Invertebrates

There are as many as 35 phyla of invertebrates.  Some of the more common phyla are Arthropoda (insects, spiders, extinct trilobites, eurypterids, etc.), Molluska (snails, clams, octopuses, extinct ammonites, etc.), Coelenterata (yellyfish, sea anemones, corals, etc.), Porifera (sponges), Brachiopoda, and Echinodermata (starfish, crinoids, sea urchins, etc.).

Invertebrates include all animals that do not have a vertebral column.  Invertebrates make up 90% of all living animals.
