The fluorescent minerals in the specimen are possibly calcite, chalcedony or possibly uranium. The specimen comes from the Yellow Cat area of Utah.
The first image was taken under both long and short wave ultraviolet light. The fluorescing minerals fluoresce white (calcite-long wave UV) and green (chalcedony-short wave UV). Uranium is present in the Yellow Cat area and it fluoresces yellow under both long and short wave ultraviolet lights. Any purple areas are the reflection of the long wave light off the normally light tan to grey non-fluorescing minerals of the specimen.
The long wave ultraviolet photo, below, for this specimen fluoresces white (calcite).
