The fluorescent minerals in the specimen are aragonite, calcite, and chalcedony from the Big Horn Mountains, Wyoming.
The first image was taken under a short wave ultraviolet light. The aragonite fluoresces an electric white. The calcite fluoresces orange and any chalcedony fluoresces green. Any purple areas are the reflection of the short wave light off the normally white to light tan non-fluorescing minerals of the specimen. Additionally the aragonite will phosphoresce for 5 to 10 seconds after exposure to short wave UV light.
The second image below was taken under long wave ultraviolet light. The aragonite will fluoresce a creamy white to yellow under long wave ultraviolet light. The calcite fluoresces orange under long wave, as well. The shades of purple color are due to the long wave light reflecting off the light colored minerals in the specimen.
