Ceratodus is Greek for "horned tooth." This extinct Sarcopterygian lungfish was wide ranging and evidence can be found around the world in places like Argentina, Egypt, England, Australia, China, Germany, and the United States. They also lived from the Middle Triassic (228 million years ago) to the Late Cretaceous. Our specimen is from the Maastrichtian Stage of the Late Cretaceous (70 million years ago) and comes from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
