Cretoxyrhina/Carcharias hopei is an extinct mackerel shark that lived during the Cretaceous through early Eocene Epoch (140-55 million years ago). It is one of the largest sharks reaching lenghts of 23 feet and would have preyed on a variety of marine animas, including large fish, mosasaurs, and plesiosaurs. It was similar to today's great white shark.
This specimen is from the phosphate beds of Khourigba, Morocco.
