The Saltasaurus loricatus was the first long necked dinosaur found, so far, which had armor. The armor was made up of interconnected studs which formed a shield over its back. The armor studs were anywhere from pea to human fist sized with no apparent pattern. It was small and stocky, by comparison to other long necked dinosaurs, with short, stumpy back legs. It also had the thickest egg shells of all the dinosaurs. It was a plant eater and lived during the Late Cretaceous (100-70 million years ago).
