The Jeletzkytes phragmocone (the walled off portion of the shell) is involute and the body chamber has a short shaft that extends slightly beyond the phragmocone with a weak recurved hook. Ribs are sparse and straight on the phragmocone and tend to bifurcate (split in two) and bend slightly on the living chamber. There are prominent ventrolateral nodes starting on the phragmocone then fade away near the opening of the living chamber. Most species have at least one other row of tubercles around the umbilical margin or extending midway on the flank. Some species have two or three rows of tubercles starting at the phragmocone fading away towards the opening of the living chamber.
Jeletzkytes: named after J.A. Jeletzky, ites - means a stone.
The small ammonite specimen at the base is a Rhaeboceras halli.
